南洋理工大学英语系大二学生林誉（21岁）的父母在她16岁那年离异。一夜间，母亲必须承担起家里的经济重担，只能带着她和妹妹暂住在外祖父母家。 林誉当时中学刚毕业，升上理工学院的三年里，对她来说是非常煎熬的一段时期。除了得适应新的生活和家庭环境，还得兼顾学业和五份兼职工作，包括教补习来帮补家用。 她说：“因为家里的经济条件不好，我在理工学院时甚至考虑辍学。上大学在当时是遥不可及的。”

Seramai 12 pelajar menerima Anugerah Biasiswa Peringatan Lim Kim San yang ke-18 di Auditorium Media SPH pada 1 Ogos. pada 2024, Yayasan Singapore Press Holdings (SPHF) telah meningkatkan sara hidup tahunan dan elaun buku daripada $2,300 kepada $3,000 untuk membantu penerima menguruskan kos sara hidup yang semakin meningkat.
